
Mary P. (Cobitoso) Perito died Friday at her Medford home. She was 101 years old.
Mary was born in Boston’s North End, the daughter of the late Michael and the late Michelle (DeMarco) Cobitoso. At a young age Mary began work at the former Schraffts Candy factory in Charlestown. By age 19 she had become the first woman supervisor at the factory. She worked at Schraffts until her marriage to Louis Perito in 1927. The couple settled in Medford and Mary dedicated herself to raising her family. A devout woman, Mary belonged to the Legion of Mary and the Ladies Sodality at Saint Clement Parish, Medford. In addition to caring for her children, Mary helped her husband with the administration of his North End business, Modern Appliance.
She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Perito. She was a devoted mother to Rosemarie Cokash and her late husband William of Saratoga, CA, Atty. Paul L. Perito and his wife Robin Crawford Perito of Washington, DC, and the late Louis P. Perito. She was a loving grandmother to Christine Jobe of CO, Kenneth Cokash of CA, Andrew Louis Perito of New York City, Meghan K. Perito of Washington, DC, Kate B. Perito of NC and the late Karen Cokash. She was a loving great- grandmother to Sara Elizabeth, Jevin and Hannah Cokash all of California. She was a dear sister to Louise Cobb of Somerville and the late Maria Teresa Burzillo.
Family and friends may visit Friday, 4 – 8, at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered in St. Joseph Church, Medford, Saturday, September 9th at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
