Obituary

HOLLIS- Christine Cornish passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, kindness, and love that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Born on September 4, 1958, Christine lived a life defined by service, empathy, and a deep appreciation for the world around her.

Christine was a devoted nurse whose life’s work centered around caring for others. With a gentle spirit and a steady heart, she brought comfort, healing, and hope to countless patients and families. Nursing was not just her profession — it was her calling, and she carried it out with grace and selflessness every day.

Beyond her work in healthcare, Christine had a deep love for animals. She had a special way of connecting with them, always ensuring they felt safe, cared for, and cherished. Whether rescuing a stray, tending to a beloved pet, or simply enjoying the companionship of animals, her compassion knew no bounds.

Christine also found peace and joy in nature. She loved being outdoors, surrounded by the beauty of the earth — walking through forests, listening to birdsong, and feeling the calming presence of the natural world. Her appreciation for Native American culture reflected her respect for tradition, spirituality, and the deep connection between people and the land. She admired the wisdom, artistry, and values that emphasized harmony with nature and one another.

Christine is survived by her brother, Ken Cornish, and sister-in-law, Amy Cornish; her niece, Jennifer Asquith, and her husband, Dan Asquith, along with their daughter, Kathryn Asquith; and her nephew, Brad Cornish, and his wife, Leigha Cornish.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Anita Cornish, and father, Bill Cornish.

A small graveside service will take place in the spring, allowing family and close friends to gather and honor Christine’s life in a peaceful, natural setting she so dearly loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that charitable donations be made in Christine’s memory to the ASPCA, reflecting her lifelong love and compassion for animals.

Those who knew Christine will remember her warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to helping others. She was a source of comfort, strength, and love, and her memory will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Christine Cornish will be deeply missed by her family, friends, colleagues, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit of compassion and love will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Christine will be interred at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hollis.
