
Worcester: Kris M. Whitney, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday; December 15, 2025 at home.
Kris was born in Worcester, MA on Thursday, November 02, 1967. He was the 4th son, of the late; Glen A. (d.2009) and Lois (VanDeMark)(d.2008) Whitney. Kris leaves behind 3 brothers: Karl Glen Whitney and wife Beverley (Haynes) and family of Palmer, MA; John W. Whitney and wife Judith (Finely) and John’s children of Galloway, OH and Paul D. Whitney and family of Grand Forks, ND. Along with several Aunt’s and many cousins.
He also left behind his close friend of 35 years, Chris Stowbridge and wife Tracy and family of Millbury, MA. As well as, Heather Green of Montreal, Canada and Beth Fogle-Hatch of Baltimore, MD and Andre Donatien of Queens, NY.
Kris was born blind with Congenital Glaucoma. Thus being totally blind, he only attend public schools K-12; culminating with his graduation from South High Community School; Worcester, MA in June, 1985. He attended Worcester State College from September, 1987 to May, 1992 and then again September, 2004 to May, 2006.
Kris has worked for several companies as; a telephone tech support person, computer programmer and a technical writer. He also developed; EBT (Easy Braille Translator) Software. He also developed game software for the Braille-N-Speak (or effectively known as the Braille-N-Squeak). He was a published author, an avid role player, in such games as: Dragon Quest, Champions and Pathfinder. He has an extensive digital Library consisting of: Audio, Video and more than 80,000 e-books and AudioBooks. He was a notorious fan of “filk music”.

Janet Barry of MassAbility; Worcester, MA who Kris considered, “His Guardian-Angel” and Christine Oliveri of Emanuel Village, where Kris lived, for all the accommodations and help he received. We must also thank all the people who were part of Kris’s everyday life. Without them, he would have never been able to confront and over-come, the many setbacks he faced.
