Belmont-Ernest Joseph Poire, 80, of 114 Farraville Road died Sunday morning, September 3, 2006 at Mountain Ridge Center in Franklin after a brief illness.
Ernie was born in Laconia on August 21st, 1926, the son of the late Hector and Gabrielle (Sevigny) Poire. He had been a resident of Belmont for the past six years coming from Laconia.
Prior to his retirement Ernie was a Plant Manager for the former Cormier Hosiery Corporation in Laconia for 53 years. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia, and a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks No. 876. He was a very active and devoted volunteer in the knitting department of the Belknap Mill Society with his buddies to ensure all the history of the past would continue to be shared and experienced with generations to come.
Besides his parents Ernie was predeceased one son, Roger Poire in 1995. His three brothers, Robert, Leo, and Roger Poire also predeceased him.
As a devoted husband and best friend, Ernie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene T. (Laramie) Poire of Belmont. He is also survived by one son, James Poire of Belmont; one grandson, Jason Poire and his wife Barbara of Sanbornton; two great grandsons, Cameron and Ethan Poire of Sanbornton; one daughter-in-law, Rhonda Poire of Belmont; and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janette and Richard Shepard of Gilford. Many nieces and nephews also survive Ernie. He will be missed by all who knew him.
At Ernie’s request there will be no visiting hours of funeral services.
Private burial took place in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia.
