AVON — Dennis R. Allen, 57, of Avon, formerly of Bridgewater, died Friday at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. He was the husband Anne McGuane Allen.
Born in Bridgeport, Conn., he was a son of Madeline (Braddock) Allen of Avon and the late Raymond Allen Sr.
Mr. Allen was raised in Avon and was a graduate of Avon High School, Class of 1967, and the Art Institute of Boston in 1970.
He was an art director for Miller Golf in Rockland for 35 years.
Mr. Allen had resided in Bridgewater for many years before moving to Tennessee for a year when Miller Golf merged and became Datrek-Miller.
He designed the current logo at the Olde Scotland Links Golf Course in Bridgewater.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Paul Revere Lodge AF & AM in Brockton and played drums in several bands on the South Shore in his younger years.
He enjoyed golf, the beach, photography and painting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Samantha Allen of Somerville; his stepchildren, Sarah and Meghan McGuane of Quincy; two brothers, David R. Allen of Weathersfield, Conn., and Raymond Allen Jr. of East Bridgewater; three nieces, Denise Allen of Meridian, Conn., and Jessica and Jacqueline Allen of Mansfield. Also survived by many cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St., Bridgewater. Burial will be in Central Cemetery, Halifax.
