Gloria F. (Cook) O’Connell, 69, of 68 Sterling St., formerly of Upsala St., died Wednesday, Aug 30, at home. Her husband of 32 years, Paul M. O’Connell Sr. died in 1988. She leaves six children, Judyth A. and her husband Michael A. Keenan of Millbury, Paul M. O’Connell, Jr. and Brian D. O’Connell with whom she lived, Patrick J. and his wife Lynn M. O’Connell of East Falmouth, Scott E. O’Connell of Millbury and Kevin D. and his wife Kellie A. O’Connell of Worcester; ten grandchildren, Paul III, Seamus, Shawna, Maeve, Marin and Emory O’Connell and Deirdre, Sarah, Shannon and Corey Keenan and a great-grandson, Paul M. O’Connell IV. Two sisters, Rose DeMarco and Carol Cook, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Mary Cook and attended Worcester Schools.
Gloria worked for the Paul Revere Insurance Co. for many years and most recently she worked at the DCU Center. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and loved spending individual time with all her grandchildren and taking them on trips. She also enjoyed traveling with friends and decorating cakes, especially for all the family weddings.
The funeral will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. with a Mass at 10AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 600 Cambridge St. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Visiting Hours are Friday, Sept. 1, from 5 to 8PM at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to the Worcester Senior Center, 128 Providence St., Worcester, 01604.
