Robert J. Jasmin, 68, died Wednesday at home of his daughter after a battle with cancer. Born in Stoughton, he was raised there and a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1957. He was also a graduate of Northeastern University, Class of 1976. As a young man, Mr. Jasmin won the New England Golden Gloves Boxing Title in 1958 as a Light Heavyweight. Mr. Jasmin was a Veteran of the US Army. He worked as a Sales and Marketing Food Broker for Advantage/ESM in Needham for many years. He retired one year ago. He was a member of Nazareth Associates in Rockland. Mr. Jasmin was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan who enjoyed golf in his free time. Mr. Jasmin also enjoyed thoroughbred racing and at one time owned a racehorse. He will be fondly remembered for his wit and humor.
He is survived by his beloved children Kristen M. McDonnell and her husband John of Plymouth, Robert J. Jr. and his wife Debbie of CA and Janell Snell and her husband Dwayne of Plymouth. He was the caring brother of Richard J. of Stoughton, Barbara A. of Mattapoisett and Capt. Donald E. Jasmin, Stoughton Fire Dept., of Bridgewater. He was the Loving Grandfather of John B., Kyle, Brendan and Christopher McDonnell, Chase, Cameron and Whitney Jasmin and Joshua and Hannah Snell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and his former wife Marjorie Ackerman.
Funeral will be held from the SHEPHERD Funeral Home, 216 Main St., (Rte 106), KINGSTON, on Saturday, September 2 at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, Duxbury at 10 AM. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8 PM. Donations in Bob’s name may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 1 Harvard St., Brookline MA 02146-9795. Burial will follow at Mayflower Cemetery, Duxbury.
