Velma Jenkins Allen, 101, of Derry, NH died August 25, 2006 at Haven Health Center. She was born in Swampscott, MA on November 11, 1904, a daughter of the late Augustus and Annie (Berry) Jenkins. She was raised and lived in Swampscott until 1942, when she relocated to East Derry. She was an accomplished cello player and played in a group in the Swampscott area. She later operated a Thrift Shop in her home and baked items in support of her husband’s automobile sales and service business. Mrs. Allen was a member of the First Parish Congregational Church of East Derry.
She is survived by two daughters, Elaine Rodrick of Hampstead, NH and Ann Allen of Manchester, NH; three sons, Courtney P. Allen of Lake Pinora, IA, Glenn M. Allen of and Powell Allen, both of East Derry; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Bert P. Allen in 1977.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation a private graveside service was held in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry.
