Janet Baker Allen, a lifelong Needham resident died on Monday August 21, 2006 at her home. She was 63 years old. Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Phillips and Mae(O'Sullivan) Baker, Jan was a graduate of Needham High School Class of 1960. She worked for several years as a Sales Representative for Centex. In the late 1980’s, Jan opened Jan’s Java at the Needham Center train station. She ran her coffee shop at the for about 10 years. Jan was an active member of the Needham Business Accociation and served on many of the association's committees.She went on to work at Coughlin Systems in Needham as a customer service rep. The dear mother of Shawn B. Allen of Needham, Sherri Allen of Bristol, RI, Christopher Allen of Santa Monica, CA and Jeffrey Allen of Lincoln, RI., she was the loving sister of Noreen Hasey of Bangor, ME, David Baker of Needham, Terry Baker of Needham and the late Phillips Baker Jr. and Joan Hoeffler. Also survived by 6 grandchildren. Aunt of Mark Hoeffler of Needham and many other nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church Chapel on Saturday August 26 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home 1351 Highland Avenue on Friday, August 25 from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment at Needham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Jan’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St Framingham MA 01701.
