NAUGATUCK, CT.______Mary Margaret (Donovan) McSherry, 76, of 24 East Dr., died Friday August 30 at St. Marys Hospital, Waterbury.
She leaves her husband of 49 years, John K. McSherry; four sons, Dr. George D. McSherry of Upper Montclair, N.J., Atty. Kevin H. McSherry of Naugatuck; J. Brian McSherry of Worcester and Michael T. McSherry of Alexandria, VA; a daughter, Mary C. Masse of West Newbury, MA., a sister, Helen A. Nightengale of Latham, N.Y., five grandchildren, Meaghan, Sean and Mikaela McSherry all of Worcester and Erin and Caitlin McSherry both of Upper Montclair; nephews and nieces. She was born in Waterbury, Ct., daughter of George J. and Mary (Conley) Donovan and lived in Naugatuck all her life.
Mrs. McSherry was a teacher 11 years for St. Francis School in Naugatuck and retired in 1980. Before then she was an assistant professor of Biology at the University of Bridgeport and also taught Anatomy and Physiology there.
She graduated from Naugatuck High School and received her Bachelors degree from the College of New Rochelle. She earned her Masters degree from Boston University.
Mrs. McSherry was a member of St. Francis Church and was a Den Mother for Cub Scout pack 108. She was a member of the Catholic Council of Women.
The funeral will be held Tuesday Sept. 3 from Kelly-Brennan Funeral Home, 768 Baldwin St., Waterbury with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Francis Church, Church St., Naugatuck. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Naugatuck.
