Jeanette R. O'Brien, 88, of Manchester, NH, died Friday, August 18, 2006 in the Ridgewood Center in Bedford, NH. Mrs. O'Brien was born in Boston, MA on September 22, 1917, a daughter of the late Alcide and Alice (Colin) Bretagne. She was a resident of Manchester since 2005, formerly living in Tilton, NH and Derry, NH. She was employed as a registered nurse for the W.R. Grace & Co. in Cambridge, MA for 27 years, retiring in 1979. She was also a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry. While residing in Tilton, she had volunteered at an elementary school and was involved in senior citizens.
She is survived by two granddaughters, Robin Davison of Manchester, and Angela Griffin of Attleboro, MA; four great grandchildren, and also by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Diane Olsen.
Friends called on Sunday, August 20, 2006 from 1 - 4pm in Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Monday, August 21st at 10:00am in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. The burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry, NH. Memorial contributions were made to the Salvation Army National Headquarters, P.O. Box 269, Alexandria, VA 22313.
