Obituary

James Kevin Walsh, a Rosindale native, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, April 16 at Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 86 years old.

James was born in Boston on August 18, 1938, to the late John I. and Mary (Quirk) Walsh. The second youngest of eight, James grew up in Roxbury and Rosindale and attended Boston State Teachers’ College (Now University of Massachusetts, Boston). In college, James was a standout athlete playing on both the basketball and baseball teams – manning third base for the 1960 baseball team that was inducted into the UMass Boston Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008. He also met his wife, Julianne (nee Dahill) in college and, after graduating in 1960, he briefly taught math in Sharon but soon shifted his career to law, ultimately graduating from Suffolk Law School 1970. James had a very successful legal career culminating in holding multiple executive roles including COO, CFO, Treasurer and, most notably, General Counsel at V-Mark Software in Westboro. In retirement, James was an avid golfer, splitting time between Florida and the Cape, and a doting Pa to his five grandchildren.

James was the cherished husband of 59 years to Julianne Walsh. He was the father of the late Michelle O’Connor of Ashland, Kevin Walsh and his wife Sheila of Charlestown, and Brian Walsh and his wife Hannah of Colleyville, Texas. He is the beloved Pa of his five grandchildren: John, Jed, Owen, Sydney, and Abby. He was the brother of the late Norrine Hardiman, Mary Walsh, John Walsh, Thomas Walsh, Patricia Peter, Joseph Walsh, and David Walsh. He is survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

James' services will be private.
