Connie served our country in the National Guard. He graduated from Franklin Technical Institute with a degree in Chemistry in 1959. After college he went on to work for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts developing vaccines for the state his entire career and loved to ride his 10-speed bicycle to work. He and Betty celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in February at a surprise anniversary party. They raised their children while living in Dedham for the past 64 years, as well as caring for his mother, Huranea, who lived with them from the start of their marriage until her passing.

Connie could talk to anyone and always had a story to tell. Recently, the family reminisced about memorable events during his life. He loved to sail and take yearly cruises with Greek organizations. In his younger years, he could always be seen with his Greek fisherman’s hat and later sporting his Best Papou t-shirt. When his children were young, he took the family on a 2-month cross-country camping trip, where he drove the entire way. He loved to travel and had visited Greece, Russia, Egypt and Bermuda to name a few places. He was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and never missed an event. He loved driving, traveling, volunteering, being frugal, and most importantly he was an incredibly loving family man.

Connie was very involved in many groups and held countless roles/titles in every organization. He was very active his entire life, even to the very end. From the Town of Dedham holding many volunteer positions to giving his time to Shriners Children’s Boston for over 30 years, driving injured children to their medical appointments.

Connie was a loyal AHEPAN serving as the Chapter President and then moving on to become the District Governor of Bay State District 8 (MA), past Commander of the George K. Menichios Post #324, Supreme Governor of the New England region and was also a member of the Board of Trustees at the National level. Connie was awarded the Presidential Meritorious Service Citation in 2023 for his strength, leadership and determination.

As a Freemasons brother, he held the positions of past Master of the Boston Lodge and most recently the District Chaplain for the 1st Masonic District. He was awarded the Joseph Warren distinguished service medal. As well as being an affiliated member of the Major General Knox Lodge, Rabboni Lodge and Lodge of the Royal Secret in Boston. He was a devoted member and chaplain of the Hellenic Square and Compass Club degree team.

Connie’s dedication and invaluable contributions spanned decades with the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He was a Parish Council President and member, as well as chairing the Stewardship Committee for over a dozen years. He was most proud of being elected to Chair the General Assembly where he presided over meetings held twice a year for over 10 years. Connie knew Robert’s Rules and Demeter’s Rules of Parliamentary Procedure and wasn’t afraid to enforce them! He remained loyal to the Cathedral, the church and the Metropolis of Boston throughout his life.

He was extremely dedicated and proud of all organizations he was involved with and especially his Greek Orthodox faith.
