“Do You Know Who I Am? I’m Mary McField”
Mary Magdalena McField was a woman of effortless grace, fashion, and class. She was the flower of her family and the mother of 9 children, 24 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. During the 1970s, Mary moved from La Ceiba, Honduras to Brooklyn, New York, and eventually settled in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked tireless hours to provide a sense of stability and betterment of her family back in Honduras.
She valued spending quality time and was family oriented. Most Thanksgivings, Easters, Birthdays, Mother’s Day, or even random occasions were spent under her welcoming roof. Growing up in a God fearing household in La Ceiba, Mary attended The Wesleyan Methodist Church from an early age. Mary had a love for the Lord and spent her final hours listening to Jimmy Swaggart, her favorite singer, as well as other traditional hymns.
Not only, did Mary carry herself with class and grace but she was also filled with life and warmth through laughter and dance. It was no secret that Mary was the life of the party and was always seen dancing wherever she went, whether that was at church, home, or family gatherings. She always kept us laughing with her joking personality and natural sense of humor. When given a compliment, and she loved receiving compliments, Mary would often reply dubiously “Do you know who I am? I’m Mary McField”.
Mary was a bright light on this Earth and will be truly missed. But we know she is dancing in heaven with the Lord and our hope is that we will one day see her again.
