Rochdale – Marie Anne (Dufresne) Smith, 85, of Rochdale, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 in the UMass Memorial Medical Center – North Pavilion after an illness.
Marie is survived by; two sons, Darrell Smith and his wife Terri of Auburn, Lawrence Smith of Webster; two daughters, Sheryl Moir and her husband Arthur of Spencer, Michelle Aldonis and her husband Randall of Rochdale; two brothers, Raymond Dufresne and his wife Beverly, of Ogunquit, ME and Jerry Dufresne and his wife Maryann, of Livingston, MO.; two sisters, Nancy Perkins and her husband James, and Emily Perkins and her husband David, all of Rochdale; 14 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Armand and Clara (Babineau) Dufresne. She attended Saint Peter’s High School in Worcester and then graduated from Leicester High School. After high school Marie continued her education by taking college courses focused on bookkeeping and worked for many years as a bookkeeper.
Marie was an avid reader, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, she was a devoted Red Sox fan, loved being outside tending to her flower beds and vegetable gardens. She loved spending time with her family and always looked forward to her trips to Hampton Beach.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2nd, at Barber's Crossing in Leicester from 11:30-2:30
A graveside service will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Pine St. Leicester. In lieu of flowers, the family would like Memorial contributions in memory of Marie to be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital 510 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Donor Services PO Box 22324 New York, NY 10087.
