Tavares, FL
Alexander R. Lattanzio, 85, died peacefully in his sleep on April 18, 2025 with his loving wife Linda by his side. The son of Frank and Eleanor (Gargiulo) Lattanzio, Al was born December 9, 1939 in Boston, MA and was raised in Everett, MA. He graduated from Everett high school, class of 1957 and then served in the National Guard. After discharge, he married his sweetheart, Marjorie (Midge) Baron in 1960 and they immediately started their family. They enjoyed forty-five years of marriage before Midge's sudden passing in 2005.
Al held several jobs over the years but mainly sold insurance, real estate and in 1980 purchased the Wagon Wheel Camping Area campground in Warwick, MA, which he and Midge operated for 26 years until her passing. This is where he was most happy.
Al was an avid singer and musician. His singing career started when he was sixteen years old and started cutting records with his band The Dahlias. He went on to sing in many venues including clubs, weddings and parties to name a few and was even a finalist in a senior idol contest in 2015. Al spent many hours a day singing in his music room and enjoyed posting music to his Facebook page for the enjoyment of others. Acting was also a favorite pastime of Al's, singing and acting in many musicals with various community theaters over the years. Al was an avid reader, sometimes reading a book a day and in recent years had taken up writing poems. He was also an avid tournament poker player.
Al and Midge raised their family in Everett, Malden then Melrose before purchasing the campground. During these years the door was always open to strangers. Several times foreign students came to stay with them, whether they were from Germany or Africa, the family always benefited from these visits. When a Filipino family needed a place to stay, room was made for them in their house, and they welcomed their child during their stay and Al and Midge became Ninong and Ninang (godfather and godmother). The door was always open to guest’s holidays, parties... always family, friends and fun.
Al later married Linda (Mehringer) Peterson and they have been happily married for seventeen years. In recent years, Al and Linda have enjoyed spending their time together eating out, taking walks, taking golf cart rides and having a picnic lunch down by the water. They enjoyed settling down in Florida and just spending their time together.
