Donald O. Fontaine, 77, of Westport, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, April 19, 2025 surrounded by family. He was the son of the late Oscar A. and Cecile L. (Hebert) Fontaine.
Don was born in Fall River and lived most of his life in Westport. He graduated from Prevost High School then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a decorated Vietnam Veteran.
Prior to retirement, he was part owner of Fall River Tool and Die where he worked for 50 years. Don was kind, generous, had a quick wit and was always willing to help. He enjoyed history, family, relaxing in the Westport River, and going to restaurants and anywhere there was food.
He leaves behind his siblings: twin brother Ronald Fontaine and his wife Colleen, George Fontaine, Candy Thornhill and her husband Ralph, David Fontaine and his wife Debra, Joseph Fontaine and his wife Martha; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Normand E. Fontaine.
The family would like to thank the care and compassion team from the Southcoast Visiting Nurses, the CNA's and hospice care.
Funeral service to which relatives and friends are invited will be Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Home at 9:45 A.M.
Calling hours Friday from 5-8 P.M.
Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
