Joseph Paul Lombard, 98, of Medway, passed away on Tuesday, April 15,2025. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Joe was born on March 20,1927 in Brookline, son of the late Louis G. and Elanor(Grealy) Lombard. Joe grew up and lived in Medway most of his life. Growing up , he and his family lived on a farm and he helped his father work the farm for many years into his adult life.
Joe served in the Army during the Korean War. Upon his return he married and raised his family still working on the farm and teaching riding lesson’s part time. In 1971, Joe and his family moved to his childhood farm and established Saddle Rowe, where he was a trainer and riding instructor. Joe became the Master of Tanheath Hunt Club and raised/trained the hounds to fox hunt. He also judged horse shows and held many clinics along the East Coast.
His life then took him in another direction and he eventually opened Corinthian Insurance, an agency specializing in horses. Joe continued to work and stay actively involved in the horse industry until he was almost 90 years old.
He is survived by his six children (Scott, Richard, Kevin, Gery, Cyndy and Tina) and five grandchildren (Joseph, Mariah, Olivia, Mattia and Celia).
Joe will always be remembered for his youthfulness and affable nature… he loved telling his life’s stories and sharing his personal experiences. His warm smile, positive energy and infinite wisdom will forever remain in many hearts.
Visiting hours are on Tuesday, April 22nd at Ginley Crowley Funeral Home from 4 to 7pm in Medway, MA.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday April 23rd at 10:00 a.m. in the Bethany Community Church, 15 Cape Road Mendon, MA. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Medway, MA.
