Richard H. Mudge, 75, of Westport, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, April, 9, 2025 at Charlton Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He was the husband of Sharon Y. (Tripp) Mudge, they shared 33 years of marriage.
Rick was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, son of the late Captain William F. Mudge, U.S. Air Force and the late Marian (Swett) Mudge and had resided in Westport for many years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and the Persian Gulf War Era. His Navy career spanned 25 years traveling the globe as a Master Chief boiler technician. He achieved the highest rank attainable by an enlisted sailor in the Navy.
Rick played varsity hockey in high school, was an excellent softball player pitching both fast and slow pitch. He was an expert skier and pool player. Rick was an avid golfer and retained a single digit handicap for many years. He was a member at Montaup Country Club and following retirement, worked at Allendale Country Club where he was also currently a member. He had a sense of humor greater than most and a wit to match. He loved people and made friends with a broad range of individuals. His family always loved him and will continue to love him.
Survivors along with his wife include his beloved dog Chief, his stepchildren: Dawn Ramos and her companion Michael Oliveira of Westport; Sean Bouchard and his wife Crystal of FL and Kyle Bouchard and his wife Angel of Fall River; 2 brothers: William Mudge and his wife Francesca of Laconia NH and Randy Mudge and his wife Bridgette of Hanover, NH; 5 grandchildren: Ashley, Shaina, Kai, Chaz and Samantha; 6 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews: William Mudge and Christopher Mudge.
Visitation to which relatives and friends are invited will be Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at the Potter Funeral Home from 9:30-11 A.M. followed by a committal service at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 P.M.
