Robert Joseph Simard, age 70, passed away in the comfort of his home on April 13, 2025. He was born on July 7, 1954, in Holyoke, son of the late Roger J. Simard and Doris (Deroy) Simard. Robert was a communicant of Mary Mother of Hope Church. He worked as a Civil Engineer, P.E. and estimator for over 46 years. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Castle of Knights Council #4044 in Chicopee; an honorary member of the Chicopee Portuguese American Club; he enjoyed travelling and cooking, but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and a proud father and grandfather who is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jeanne (Marchand) Simard of Ludlow; one son, Timothy Simard and his wife Christine of Ludlow; one daughter, Nicole Mendes and her husband Brian of Chicopee; one brother Donald Simard and his wife Janice of Maryland; one sister, Diane Kurtz of Ludlow; six grandchildren, Paige, Gabriel, Alivia, Emalie, Noah and Sophie along with many extended family members and friends who all love him and will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Roy Kurtz. Calling hours will be held on the morning of the funeral, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, from 8:30 - 10:30 AM at the Grise Funeral Home, 280 Springfield St, Chicopee followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Blvd, Springfield at 11:00 AM.
