GILMANTON ---- Kevin Wayne Ames, 65, of Dock Rd, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 7, 2025, at Concord Hospital – Concord, NH.

Kevin was born on May 14, 1959, in Lewiston, ME. He was the son of the late George Ames and Margaret (Berry) Ames.

Kevin graduated from Oxford Hills High School, South Paris, ME.

As a young boy Kevin followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Oxford Fire Dept until he went into the Army.

He then served 12 years in the United States Army. Kevin did overseas active service in Operation Desert Storm, in Company B 547th Engineer Combat Battalion, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. During that time he received several awards including the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge, and Overseas Service Ribbon.

Kevin’s love of the fire department called him once he was back home again. This time Kevin gave 20+ years to the Norway Fire Department, proudly securing a role as a Captain.

He obtained his CDL from Northeast Tractor Trailer School. Over the years Kevin held employment with several companies; notably Ed Thayer Trucking, Dyer Transportation and lastly, Wolcott Construction.

In 2018, Kevin moved to New Hampshire, where he married his wife Jennifer (Richards) Ames in 2019. Together they built a life that included weekends “UP NORTH”, time at the coast of Maine and traveling in the winters, when he wasn’t plowing snow.

Kevin loved to fish whenever he could, either off the docks at Diamond Pond or ice fishing on the lakes of Maine with family. He loved going to Oxford Plains Speedway to watch his friend Skip race and he even enjoyed sitting in his recliner following NASCAR on the television.

Kevin is survived by his wife Jennifer; sons Matthew Taylor and wife Nina of Colorado Springs, CO, and Garrett Taylor; step-son Tyson McKenna, of Gilford, NH; step-daughters Brianne Siepiola and her husband Ryan, of Clinton, NY and Brittni Grandmaison and her husband Jeffrey, of Londonderry, NH, his siblings; brother George Ames and wife Roxanne, of Waterford, ME; sisters Bonnie DiFazio, of Norway, ME; Colleen Landers and her husband Charles, of West Paris, ME and Kelly Ames and her husband Eric Frederick of Oxford, ME.
