MEREDITH ---- Harold E. Currier, Jr., more commonly known by the name of Pete, passed away on the morning of Saturday, April 12, 2025, in the comfort of his home.
Pete was born on June 18, 1949, to his mother, Marcia Currier (King) and father, Harold Currier, Sr.
Pete led a life devoted to hard work and service to the community of his hometown, Meredith, NH. He served as 1st Captain for the Meredith Fire Department, and as a member of their Muster Team. Upon retirement from the fire department, Pete continued his work for the town of Meredith as their cemetery groundskeeper for many years; a job in which he took great pride.
Pete was a man of great achievements and legacy. He raced cars with the Lakes Region Ice Racing Club, was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed showcasing his Ford Model A in the local antique car parade with the Sandwich Fair.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Currier; his children, Harold E. Currier III and Anne Currier; daughter-in-law Carrie Currier; his four grandchildren, Dylan O’Hara, Tianna Szarka, Sage Currier, and Ayden Potter; and his three great-grandchildren, Hayden O’Hara, Elliot O’Hara, and Roman Szarka. Pete was preceded in death by his mother and father, and half-sister Lorraine Haley.
Calling Hours will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 10:00am-12:00pm, in the Carriage House at Wilkinson-Beane-Simoneau-Paquette Funeral Home, 164 Pleasant Street, Laconia, NH 03246.
A procession will lead to the Meredith Village Cemetery for Graveside Services, with refreshments and a celebration of life to follow at the Meredith Fire Department, 286 Daniel Webster Highway, Meredith, NH.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Pete’s memory to the Meredith Fire Department Auxiliary, PO Box 494, Meredith, NH 03253, or to the New Hampshire Humane Society, PO Box 572, Laconia, NH 03247.
