Obituary

Mary C. (Murphy) Healy, 88, of Bellingham, died peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Jeanne Jugan Residence Home in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. She was the beloved wife of Joseph M. Healy who died in 1980.

Born in Boston on August 15, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Lucille R. (d’Entremont) Murphy.

Mary was a resident of Bellingham for 20 years and was formerly a longtime resident of Franklin. She grew up in Roxbury and graduated from Cathedral High School. Later in life, she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Bryant University.

Mary worked as an accountant at the Board of Regents Higher Education in Massachusetts for many years. After her retirement, she worked as a bookkeeper at the Bellingham Senior Center.

Mary was a member of the Bellingham Arts and Culture Council and was a communicant of St. Blaise Church in Bellingham. She enjoyed doing ceramics and painting and taught ceramics at her studio in her home for many years.

She is survived by six children, Joseph Healy and his wife Gina of Ipswich, Elaine Burns and her husband Raymond of Ruskin, FL, Mark Healy and his late wife Susan of Franklin, Chris Healy and his wife Marianne of Hadley, Karen Kochis and her husband Roger of North Providence, RI and Susan Lagos and her husband Bill of Nashville, TN, twelve grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters, Irene DeWalt and Lucille Owen, both of Rochester, MN, and Patricia McCollem of Abington, one brother Michael Murphy of Plymouth, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late George, Kenneth and Finian Murphy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Mass on Wednesday, April 16 at St. Blaise Church, 1158 South Main Street in Bellingham at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Franklin.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 15 from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street in Franklin, ginleyfuneralhomes.com
