Judy A. Teixeira, age 62, a longtime resident of Tewksbury, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of Ralph S. Teixeira, with whom she would have celebrated 38 years of marriage this coming September.
Born in Somerville on February 6, 1963, Judy was the beloved daughter of Rachel (Dube) McBrine and the late William McBrine. She was raised in Somerville, where she attended local schools and graduated from Somerville High School.
Judy built a fulfilling career at the MIT David H. Koch Institute for Cancer Research, where she worked for over 25 years. Most recently, she served as a Senior Administrative Assistant, a role in which she took great pride and where she formed lasting friendships. Beyond her professional dedication, she was known for the warmth and care she brought to her work environment. She took genuine pride in her role - not just in the tasks she performed, but in the relationships she nurtured within the labs. Many saw her as a mother figure, someone who listened, supported, and uplifted those around her. Her presence left a lasting impact on countless colleagues who were lucky enough to work alongside her.
She and Ralph found joy in traveling, with a special love for the Caribbean and Cape Cod. Judy also cherished her girls’ trips to New York City with her daughter, Lauren. Whether boating, discovering new places, or simply spending time with family, Judy embraced life with warmth and a spirit of adventure.
Family was the center of Judy’s world. She was a proud and devoted mother to Christopher Teixeira and his wife Amanda of Tewksbury, and to her daughter Lauren Teixeira of Providence, RI. Her greatest joy came from being “Nene” to her beloved grandchildren, Maya and Max, who lit up her life with love and laughter.
Judy is also survived by her four brothers: William McBrine and his wife Margaret of Malden, Richard McBrine and his wife Judy of Onset, Paul McBrine of Malden, and Robert McBrine and his wife Anne of Baldwinville; her sisters-in-law: Valerie Teixeira-Smith of Dorchester, Corinne Teixeira-Davis of Douglasville, GA ; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Jon “Jackie” McBrine.
Family and friends are invited to attend her calling hours on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tewksbury Funeral Home, 1 Dewey Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876.
