Pauline Wynn, affectionally known as Nana, Nana Pauline, Nana Banana, and Momma of Roxbury, MA passed away on April 5th, 2025 after a series of medical complications.
Pauline was born on February 8th, 1933 to Elizabeth Mae Wynn in Lincolnton, GA. She was the second oldest of seven children. She began her early education in Lincolnton, GA before moving to Brevard, North Carolina where she continued her education in Hendersonville, NC, and graduated from Hendersonville High School.
Pauline was a Nanny and Domestic worker for many years which took her to several states throughout the country. She started her career in childcare in Kalamazoo, MI, and from there she worked and lived in Guilford, CT. In 1968 Pauline relocated her family to Boston, MA, and began working for the Dunn family for whom she spent many years and they grew to become a big part of her family.
Shortly after her move to Boston, Pauline joined Concord Baptist Church, and her love of music, especially gospel led her to becoming a member of the Adult Gospel Choir. She was a caregiver to all she came in contact with. Her sweet demeanor made it easy to love her. She loved to cook, had a passion for doing crossword puzzles, playing cards with her family at every family gathering (Bid Wiz was her game). She was an avid sports fan who loved watching the Red Sox, Celtics, Patriots, and the Boston Bruins! She was a lover of the Soap Opera General Hospital and introduced it to anyone willing to sit and watch it with her. She adored Bella (the family dog) and Sonny (the family cat) who slept at the foot of her bed nightly!
Pauline returned to Brevard, NC in 1992 to assist her ailing mother. While there she worked at Bethel A Baptist Church as a childcare provider in the Sunrise Children’s Program. She was also a cook at Brevard Hospital. She retired back to Boston where she remained until her passing.
Pauline is predeceased by her mother (Elizabeth Wynn), sons (John & Kenneth Wynn), two sisters (Genva Lynch & Ethel Wynn), and two brothers (Leroy & Lindsey Wynn). She is survived by son Alan, and daughter-in-law Denise Wynn of Andover, MA, daughter Valerie Wynn of Fairburn, GA, grandsons Kenneth, Evan, Perry, Jason, and Calvin, granddaughters Krishona, Kim, Kenya, Jacqueline, and Abria, sisters Betty Watson & Hazel Wynn of Boston, MA, brother Steven Wynn of Brevard, NC. Pauline will be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
