FEDERICO, Grace (Danna) of Northborough, MA, formerly of Roslindale and East Boston, graced us with her presence for 99 years and 9 months. She passed away peacefully at the Parlin Hospice Residence surrounded by her family on April 9, 2025. Beloved wife of 69 years to the late Anthony Federico. Devoted mother of Michael Federico of Northborough and Stephen Federico and his wife Kathleen of Natick. Proud grandmother of Deanna Federico. Survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Born in East Boston, Grace was the daughter of Grazia (Pignato) and Salvatore Danna and the last of ten siblings from a close-knit family which included the late Anna, Vincenzo (Jimmy), Sebastiano (Busty), Domenica (Minnie) Marinelli, Benedetto (Benny), Salvatore (Sam), Josephine (Josie) Cardinale, Mary and Pasquale (Pat) Danna.
A graduate of East Boston High, Grace met Tony while working at Filene’s Basement – she lovingly called him the best bargain at Filene’s. She and Tony later moved into Northborough’s new Birchwood Community, where they helped shape its early years and enjoyed card games, community events, and long-lasting friendships.
Grace was a top-notch seamstress, crafting everything from custom clothing, including a dress for her twenty-fifth wedding anniversary celebration, to home decor. When she wasn’t threading the needle, she enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Her Italian specialities, pizzelles, and Tony’s homegrown vegetables were family favorites. Grace was the happiest when surrounded by family, food, and a full basket of bread.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Newton Wellesley Hospital and the Parlin Hospice Residence for their exceptional care during Grace’s final days.
