Obituary

Melissa Jane King 56, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Friday April 4, 2025 after a long battle with ALS.

Melissa was born on October 30, 1969 in Worcester, and became the daughter of Richard F. King and Linda (Bartelloni) King of Franklin.

Melissa attended the Franklin Schools, kindergarten-Little Red Brick School, grade school, junior high and graduated Franklin High School Class of 1987.

Melissa was an amazing, kind and giving person. She loved cooking, music, concerts, family and traveling. She became a professional trained chef and worked at many different restaurants in Massachusetts. She worked at Dynisco Franklin.She did volunteer work for BayPath Humane Society in Hopkinton. She eventually settled in Taunton alongside her cherished animals, especially her constant companion Chi Chi, her dog. While there she excelled in gardening, veggies, flowers and various house plants.

In addition to her parents she is survived by her sister, Lisa (King) Smith and her husband Russell Smith, brother JohnShakkar Settineri and his wife Linda Settineri of Boston, aunt Marilyn (Bartelloni) Fisher and her husband Jim Fisher of Hopedale, uncle Neil Bartelloni of Franklin, cousins, Melanie (Volz) Jordan and her husband Andy and their children, Dre Jordan & Adriana Jordan all of Franklin, cousin Deborah (Bartelloni) Kedski and her husband Steve Kedski of Grafton, cousin Donald Palladini, Maria (Bertone) Palladini and their daughter Dawn Marie (Palladini) Greenshalgh, aunt Shirley (King) Lombardi, uncle Stephen Lombardi of Franklin, cousin the late Scott “Lumpy” Lombardi, late uncle Bob King, late aunt Annette (King) Cinto, late cousin, Frank Hamilton, cousin, Deborah Davis of Austin, Texas, cousin Bob Bibbo and his wife Mary of Sharon and their children, Laura (Bibbo) Lane and her husband Timothy, Bob Bibbo, Jr. and his wife Courtney (Foster) Bibbo and her dear friend Julie Brezniak Griffin, our family Thanks you for all you have done for our Melissa.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Wednesday April 16th, in the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. from 10-11:30AM.

Her funeral service will follow at 11:30AM. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
