Obituary

Louise Virginia Michelson Eichner, a cherished mother, grandmother, and loving wife, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 8, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on January 26, 1934, in Ashtabula, Ohio, to John and Hilda Michelson, she graduated from Harbor High School and attended Ohio State University. She was secretary for Paramount Pictures, U.S. Steel, and North American Coal Company in Cleveland, Ohio. Louise lived a vibrant life that spanned several states, including Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts.

Growing up the youngest of eight in a tightknit family of first-generation Finnish Americans, Louise understood the importance of love, support, and connection from an early age. She carried these values into her own family life, raising four children and fostering profound unity among her loved ones through regular stories of family accomplishments. Her legacy extends to seven grandchildren, each holding a cherished place in her heart. Family was at the core of Louise’s community. There was no mountain high enough or ocean wide enough—she always stepped forward to provide whatever love and help she could.

On August 16, 1958, Louise married the love of her life, William (Bill) Eichner, after navigating a long-distance romance during his two years of Army Service in Maryland. Together, they shared a remarkable journey of 66 years filled with laughter, adventures, and deep support for one another. They raised a loving, caring family, and Louise's commitment to her family was unwavering. Their enduring partnership exemplified true love and dedication.

Louise will be remembered for her warm spirit, kind heart, and deep love for the simple things in life. She had a special appreciation for nature, always ready with the right plants for any location. Everyone she knew learned to embrace whatever weather was thrown their way, get outside, and plant beautiful gardens.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; her four children, Ed (Carole) Eichner, Kurt Eichner, Sue (Staffan) Sandberg, and Erika (Bob) Clarke; and her seven grandchildren, Drew, Emma, Julia, Aidan, Jakob, Zane, and Elise. Louise's spirit will live on in their hearts and in the stories they share.

Per her wishes, her family will celebrate her life in private. In honor of Louise's love of nature, we invite you to plant a tree, shrub, or flowers in her memory and help bring joy and smiles to others. She will be missed.
