If you asked Richard Angelini for help, you never had to ask twice. He would step up and lend a hand to anyone - anything, anytime, and anywhere. That’s just the kind of man he was. Underneath his imposing frame, molded by years of working hard for his family, Richard Angelini had a heart of gold and wanted to lend his talents to help others. That is who he was, what he did, and is the hallmark of his legacy.
Richard V. Angelini, 78, of Woonsocket, died peacefully surrounded by the love of his family Sunday evening April 6, 2025 at Landmark Medical Center. He was the loving husband of Paulette C. (Paquette) Angelini. Richard and Paulette were married on April 22, 1972 at St. Louis Church and shared the past 52 years living, loving, and supporting each other. Richard will be remembered as a loving husband and father. He was the proudest father and grandfather in the world; his daughter, son and two granddaughters meant absolutely everything to him.
Born and raised in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Antonio and Amelia (Medicina) Angelini. A lifelong resident of the city, Richard was a graduate of Woonsocket High School Class of 1965. Throughout his life, he fondly recalled his days of playing football for Woonsocket. Over the course of his career as a skilled carpenter, Richard was employed at Gorham Corporation, the Town of Franklin, and at Wyle Laboratories before retiring.
Richard was an outdoor sportsman at heart. An avid fisherman, Richard was a member of the Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association (RISAA) and the Franklin Rod and Gun club. He was a longtime member of the Woonsocket B.P.O.E. Lodge # 850. While his children were growing up, he coached and umpired for Bernon Little League baseball. Richard was a dedicated parishioner of St. Charles Parish, where he volunteered for many activities. He could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, particularly when he was asked to share his cooking skills.
In addition to his wife Paulette, Richard is survived by his son Timothy Angelini of Woonsocket and his daughter Stephanie Sweeton and her husband Jerry of Attleboro. Richard was the proud grandfather of Amelia and Claire Sweeton of Attleboro. He was the brother of the late John Angelini, and is survived by his sister-in-law Elise Angelini of Bellingham, his nephew John Angelini and his family.
Everyone is welcome to gather at Richard’s Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday April 15th at 10:00 am in St. Charles Church on North Main St. in Woonsocket where we will honor, remember, and pray for him. There will be an opportunity to pay your respects to the family at the church, starting at 9am, as well as after the service.
