Obituary

Leon Jean Baptiste “Leo” Langlais, Jr., 71, passed away following a tragic accident. He had been missing since January and was recently found, bringing a sense of closure to his loved ones.

He was the devoted husband of Patricia E. (Bordeleau) Langlais, with whom he shared a loving marriage since October 9, 1976.

Born in Lowell on September 26, 1953, Leo was the son of the late Leon Langlais and the late Rita (Ayotte) Langlais. He grew up in the Lowell area and was educated at St. Jeanne D’Arc School and Lowell High School. He continued his studies at UMass Lowell and proudly served in the National Guard during the 1970s.

Leo worked in maintenance throughout his career, most recently at Lowell General Hospital’s Saints Campus for six years. Prior to that, he worked at Seven Hills in Groton for approximately seven years and earlier at Textron. He took pride in his work and was known for his reliability and strong work ethic.

A true Boston sports fan, Leo enjoyed cheering on all the local teams. He loved spending time at home and especially treasured time with his grandchildren. For many years, he coached youth soccer in Lowell, generously giving his time to support and encourage young athletes. His faith was important to him—he was a longtime communicant of Holy Trinity Church and later the Immaculate Conception Church.

Leo is survived by his beloved children: Jason Langlais and his wife Rachael of Ayer; Adam Langlais and his wife Holly of Lowell; Brian Langlais and his companion Felicia of Gardner; and Patrick Langlais and his fiancée Sarah McQuiston of Dracut.

He was a proud grandfather to Amy Strong and her fiancée Alex, Rebecca Strong and her companion Kenny, Jason Langlais Jr. and his companion Jillian, Veronica Langlais and her companion Jocelyn, Audrey Langlais, Liliana Langlais, Robert Langlais, Alekz Langlais, William Langlais, and McKaylee Langlais; and great-grandfather to Perry Strong.

He also leaves behind his sisters, Janet Langlais and Marie Anne St. Arnaud, as well as his in-laws, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends who will miss him dearly.

Leo was predeceased by his sisters, Irene Lagasse, and Gabrielle "Gaby" Monette.
