Obituary

OBITUARY: defined as a notice of one’s end. For Edward Alfred Dipple, we will not define this as an obituary. There is no end for a LEGEND.

A FAMILY MAN, returning to England to console his MOTHER, Elizabeth (Saker) Dipple, BROTHER Ronald Christopher Dipple and mourn his FATHER Christopher William Dipple. A MAN OF HEART, to return for his most valuable find in London- JANET ALIX CHAMBERLAIN, the sparkle of his life and treasure to later call his WIFE. A RISK TAKER, earning less to make more as a junior broker, rising in the ranks quickly as an underwriter of LLOYDS OF LONDON. An ENTREPRENEUR, seeking a new challenge in a new country, he extended Lloyd’s success, further developing special risk insurance in the CITY OF BOSTON. A LEADER of the insurance industry, he paved the way into the sports market, founded AMERICAN SPECIALTY UNDERWRITERS, and became the most respected, INSURER OF CHAMPIONS in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. As an HONORABLE GENTLEMAN of Lloyd’s of London Insurance Industry, he was a member of the THREE ROOMS CLUB, to represent that “Lloyd’s is not just a “living” it’s a way of life where the sense of belonging is indigenous and camaraderie epitomizes the whole Society”. PRESTIGIOUSLY HONORED for his achievements, Edward Alfred Dipple was pronounced a FREEMEN OF LONDON, contributing to the City’s well-being, history and tradition, granted “Freedom of the City” alongside his fellow icon, SIR WINSTON CHURCHILL. And short of so much more, a FATHER, who taught his daughter, ELIZABETH ALIX DIPPLE the most valuable lessons of life:
SHARE
for your success in life may be another person’s triumph
BE GENEROUS
to give is to not receive
RESPECT
is the ultimate acceptance that is only earned by respecting others
BE TRUE
speak to those you love, as if you love them
PROMISE
for your word is your bond
BE WITTY
to have clever observation and remark, to be able to think on your feet in the moment, to steer with influence, and to be able to charm to gain the interest of others
LISTEN
to be a better decision maker, to give you the upper hand, to foster intelligence and strengthen your relationships
OPEN YOUR EYES TO CHARACTER
don’t suffer fools
SEEK TO UNDERSTAND
as understanding may be more powerful than the power of knowledge
EXCELLENCE
is not to achieve by oneself, but by who you chose to surround yourself with
TRUST
not in all and not in one, never put your eggs in one basket
FOLLOW YOUR INSTINCT
a recipe for no regret; as it may not always lead you right, but it will never lead you wrong
RISK, GAMBLE & TAKE CHANCES
but be considerate, calculate and investigate your odds
BE MARRIED
only to be a greater man, by having an even better woman behind you
SACRIFICE
to absorb and shed someone else’s pain when they are not able to do so, is a beautiful thing
BE TOUGH
do not let anyone get in your way
CHALLENGE ONESELF, PERSEVERE & NEVER GIVE UP
for the sky is the limit
DO LIFE “YOUR WAY”
for only you are responsible for your own happiness
~
May the voice of his family carry …
“For all that you are, and all that you have made us, we thank you for being a legend, we will never surrender you, for your life has given us a better future.”
“WE WILL NEVER SURRENDER!!!”
