Donald W. Guilmain, 73, of Smithfield passed away Monday morning April 7, 2025 at Landmark Medical Center surrounded by the love and support of his family following a brave struggle with a recent illness.
Born and raised in Woonsocket he was a son of the late Uldric and Constance (Yarish) Guilmain. Over the years he lived in Woonsocket, Blackstone and Harrisville. In recent years he resided in Smithfield. Donald was a graduate of Woonsocket High School.
Donald was employed at the Foxboro Company as a machinist and later as a project manager for many years before retiring.
Donald was a longtime member of the Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club. He had a passion for all things related to cars. While his children were growing up, he spent weekends traveling to horse shows, baseball and football games. On nice days he loved to enjoy the outdoors while going fishing. Inclement weather would bring him inside to “try his luck” at casinos and gaming establishments - he always said he “broke even!”. He also enjoyed target shooting.
Donald will be remembered for his love, care and concern for his family friends and those closest to him.
Donald was the proud and loving dad to his children Joshua “Josh” Guilmain and his wife Jamie of Pascoag, Isaiah Guilmain and his wife Christine of North Smithfield and Sarah Guilmain of Meriden, CT. His grandchildren meant the world to him and he will forever hold them close to his heart – Dominic Guilmain, Angelina Milano, Domenic Milano, Zephira Guilmain, Payton Guilmain, Kilie Guilmain and Jaxson Guilmain. He was the brother of Marc, Ronald and Stephen Guilmain and is also survived by his nieces, nephews cousins and their families. He was the former husband of Denise (Leclerc) Guilmain-Alpers and her husband Warren Alpers of Nasonville.
Everyone is welcome to gather to honor, remember and celebrate Donald’s life at visiting hours on Friday April 11th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Menard-Lacouture Funeral Home, 127 Carrington Ave. Woonsocket.
