Obituary

Michael F. Garcia, age 73, a longtime Tewksbury resident, passed away at his home in the care of his family and hospice on Monday, April 7, 2025.

He was the beloved husband of Sandra L. (Hamm) Garcia with whom he celebrated their 52nd anniversary on August 12, 2024.

Born in Chelsea on October 13, 1951, he was the son of the late John W. Garcia, Jr. and the late Mary M. (Hollohan) Garcia.

Mike was raised in Tewksbury. He attended Tewksbury public schools and graduated from Tewksbury Memorial High School in 1970. Following high school, he attended Essex Agricultural School in Danvers.

Mike was the owner of Garcia Landscaping for many decades. He also used his creativity and knowledge of plants, and all things floral, as an employee at the Tewksbury State Hospital Greenhouse.

Mike was a former member of the Wamesit Masonic Lodge AF & AM of Tewksbury as well as the Temple Aleppo Shrine, where he was a member of the Aleppo Clown Team which has participated in the annual Tewksbury Memorial Day Parade.

He enjoyed woodworking and was an avid auto racing enthusiast. Mike’s love for auto racing led him to become a member of Martel’s Pegasus 02 Racing Team Pit Crew.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, Michelle L. Garcia and partner Derek Powers, of Tewksbury, Michael F. Garcia, Jr. and partner Jenny Seronello, of Woburn, and Matthew P. Garcia and wife Heidi, of Lowell: seven grandchildren and several step grandchildren, William and Christopher Brown, Paige Powers, Makayla and Rylee Garcia and Alex, Kyra, and Nakkia Pacitto, Aubree and Lucas Garcia and Micheal Zabawa. Mike was the brother of John W. Garcia, III and his late wife Harriett Garcia, of Conway, NH, Mary Margaret Smeltzer and her husband Allan, of Andover, and Ellen M. Garcia and her late husband Anthony O’Connor of Westford. He leaves many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Calling hours are Saturday, April 12th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury, immediately followed by a prayer service to be held at the funeral home. Interment of Michael’s ashes will be held at a later date at Tewksbury Cemetery.
