Robert Charles Hostetler, 75 of Brewster, MA – affectionally known as Bob, Bobby, Dad, and Grampy – passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Born in Boston on October 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Alberta Hostetler and Bruce Hostetler. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Bruce “Billy” Hostetler, Jr. and his beloved dog Susie.
Bob was a 1965 graduate of Roslindale High School. After high school, Bob joined the Army where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and was an expert rifleman. He found himself stationed in Germany for 4 years, where he spent his time off skiing the Alps and traveling thru the DACH and Benelux regions. He spoke of this time with great fondness for the remainder of
his life.
After returning from the Army, Bob attended college and was a very proud graduate of Northeastern University, class of 1976. He spent his career working in a variety of roles at the Federal Reserve Bank; the Micro Group; and the Town of Norwood.
After living in Medway for many years, Bob retired to Brewster, MA – he was so excited to be able to walk on the beach, attend Cape Cod Baseball League games, explore the local museums and art galleries, and experience the slow-paced life of retirement in his new idyllic Cape Cod town. He also spent much of his time remodeling his home and on his favorite hobby, gardening. Bob was a member of the Dennis post of the American Legion. He was a friend of Bill W. and always sought ways to help others in their journey.
Bob is survived by his three children: Alicia Sheridan and her husband Mathew of Plainville; Michael Hostetler and his wife Jaclyn of Plainville; and Sharon Harris and her husband Jeff of Norfolk. His six grandchildren: Dylan Sheridan, Jacob Hostetler, Joshua Hostetler, Tucker Harris, Leighton Harris, and Katherine Harris were the light of his life and brought him much joy. Bob will always be remembered for his kindness, patience, and positivity. He will be dearly missed.
Burial will be private at Forest Hills Cemetery. Donations may be made in his name to the Dennis American Legion, Post 488, 68 Forest Rd, South Yarmouth.
