James J. Rossetti, age 90, a longtime resident of Woburn, formerly of Somerville, passed away peacefully, Sunday April 6, 2025, following a short illness. He was the beloved husband of Lorraine M. (Cefalo) Rossetti and together they shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Charlestown he was the son of the late Luigi and Angelina (DeMusis) Rossetti.
James was raised and educated in Somerville and was a 1954 graduate of Somerville High School where he was a standout athlete. James had a long career as a warehouse Manager first with Stop & Shop and later with Polaroid until his retirement. He also served as Shop Steward with the Teamsters Union Local 25. Throughout his life, James was passionate about sports, playing on several semiprofessional teams in the Boston area as a young adult. Later in life he enjoyed gardening and sharing his fruits and vegetables from his garden with neighbors, friends, and family. He also loved to travel and together with his beloved wife Lorraine they traveled extensively all over the United States and Europe. James will be fondly remembered for his gentle demeanor, kind ways, and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his late parents, James is sadly predeceased by his siblings, the late Giovanni, Mary, and Michael Rossetti, Josephine DeFino, Eleanor Bonanno, John G. Rossetti, Rose Brooks, and Ralph Rossetti. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, with a special thank you to his nephew John Rossetti of New Hampshire for all the help, love and care that he provided during his uncle's declining health. He is further survived by his in-laws, Stella DiGirolamo of Woburn and Robert Cefalo of Salem, NH.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Thursday, April 10th, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated in St. Barbara Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn, at 11 a.m. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
