Cecil Henry Spires, Sr., 73, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, April 3, 2025, at his residence.
Graveside services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Riverbend Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. Rex Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the graveside.
Mr. Spires was born June 13, 1951, in Coffee County, Georgia, to the late Rufus Dennis & Martha Jane Miller Harper. He graduated from Irwin County High School. Mr. Spires was a machine operator for Union Camp and a meat cutter for Red & White Grocery store. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sitting on his front porch.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Wanda Spires of Ocilla; children: Cecil Spires, Jr. & Eve of Worth County, Wendy Handley & Tim of Irwin County and Cindi Dunlap & Daron of Irwin County; grandchildren: Tyler King, Hunter Spires & Taylor, Jackson Carelock & Megan Sandiford, Kodie Spires & Anna Streat, Dene’ Young & Allen, Keff Handley, Jacob Drawdy & Marisol, Tyler Stringer & Shelby, Emily Stringer, Dalton Dunlap and Kenzie Dunlap; great-grandchildren: Morgan Carelock, K.J. Spires, J.T. Stringer, Emma Davis, Charlotte Drawdy, Luna Griffin and Will Griffin.
