Francis Joseph “Fran” Mahoney III, 69, died on April 1, 2025, following a sudden illness. He was born July 28, 1955, in Somerville, MA, son of the late Francis J. Mahoney, Jr and Marion G. (Iandoli) Mahoney. He moved to Hampstead, NH during high school and graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry, Class of 1974. He attended Plymouth State University where he was a proud member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, and where he met his wife. His TKE brothers remained an important part of his life. Fran settled with his family in Derry, where they have lived for the past 45 years. Fran was a hard worker, working for Western Electric, AT&T, and later Lucent Technologies. He later took his "retirement" jobs at Park Place Lanes, the Derry 5 Star Cinema, and Flagship Cinema. Fran was a true family man, enjoying time with his wife, his children and later his grandchildren, who were the joy of his life.
Fran is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cynthia (Maymon) Mahoney, his son Daniel and daughter Kristen, grandchildren Joseph and Azalea, and sister Roberta as well as several nephews and a niece. He was predeceased by his parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday April 6, 2025 from 1 – 3pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. Funeral services will be Monday April 7th at 11:00am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry Road (behind First Parish Congregational Church), East Derry, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the R.
