Joseph T. Peters, III, 85, of Bradenton, FL, formerly Glocester, RI, passed away on Tuesday March 25th in his home and surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Virginia M. “Ginny” ( Miletta) Peters. They had been married for 52 years.
Born in Norfolk, VA, he was the son of the late Joseph T. and Dell (Sadler) Peters, II. He had lived in Bradenton, FL for 4 years previously living in Glocester, RI. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Joe had been a Highway Superintendent for the RI Department of Transportation; Scituate Garage for 16 years before retiring in 2002.
Joe was also an auxiliary police officer with the Smithfield Police Department for 10 years and served on the juvenile detention board.
He leaves his sons, Michael “Mike” Peters of Chapin, SC, Sean Peters of Isle LaMotte, VA and David “Dave” Peters of Bradenton, FL. Grandchildren (8) Great-Grandchildren (6).
His funeral will be held Saturday April 5th at 10am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston, RI. Visitation will be Saturday April 5th from 8am to 9:45am.
