Richard Sepulveda, age 56, passed away on March 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on August 15, 1968 in Waterbury, CT. He attended Commerce High School.
Throughout his life, Richard held many jobs, each one a testament to his dedication and strong work ethic. Whether it was at Yankee Candle, Babies R Us, Ocean State Job Lot, Walmart or Lowes, Richard went above and beyond, never shying away from the challenges that came his way. No task was ever too big, no hour too late and he believed in the value of hard work.
A true collector at heart, Richard had an eye for the finer things in life including an ever-growing collection of luxury watches, Ray-Ban sunglasses, geodes and gemstones that reflected his impeccable taste. His well-dressed style was eclectic, a perfect blend of individuality and charm. Richard also had a deep admiration for muscle cars, drawn to their power, sound craftmanship, and timeless design.
Beyond his passions, Richard had an infinity for Pomeranians, feral cats and pop stars. Sometimes mixing them together like naming his dogs Brittany and Christina. His love of music was distinct, with Taylor Swift holding a special place on his diverse playlist ranging from Country to Reggaetón.
He is predeceased by his father Dionisio Nieves. He is survived by his mother Heliodora Ruiz of Springfield; one son, Derek Xavier Malave of Independence, Missouri; two brothers, Jose Sepulveda of Springfield and Luis Rodriguez of Southington, CT; three sisters Madeline Sepulveda of Puerto Rico; Lisandra Sepulveda and her partner Hector Nieves of Springfield and Wanda Nieves and her husband David Blanchard of Springfield. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends, including his bestie Judy Williams whose unwavering support brought him comfort and reminded him that he was never alone on his journey. His legacy of hard work, passion, and love will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. They will all miss him dearly.
