Sarah Frances Bloodworth Buice, 87, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, March 31, 2025, at her residence.

Mrs. Buice was born March 20, 1938, in Savannah, Georgia to the late Jewel Franklin and Sarah Cathryne Brown Bloodworth. In 1971 she became one of the very first women to graduate from the Georgia Police Academy and would go on to serve 9 years with the McDonough, Georgia police department. The remainder of her career was spent in various Human Resources roles, retiring from Modern Dispersions South Inc. in 2004. She was very outgoing. Mrs. Buice was a member of the Flying Peaches Group, the Fitzgerald Kiwanis, the Red Hat Club and the Quilters Guild. She was in the United States Navy where she met the love of her life, Major Robert Earl Buice, and was married for 63 years. Mrs. Buice was a member of the Central Wesleyan Church of Fitzgerald.
She is survived by her daughters: Rebecca Sutherland of Fitzgerald, Cathryne Buice (Hank) of Augusta, and Emory Bloodworth of Michigan; grandson, Robert (Elaine) Conner of Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren; Emily Conner, James Conner, Alex (Kathryn) Conner, Matthew Conner and Rose Conner; great-great grandchildren; Libby Conner, Freya Conner, Riley Conner, and Grayson Conner. Many nieces and nephews also survive. Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sister, Jeanine Buchanan.
