Obituary

GILFORD ---- Stanley Warren Whitney, Jr. 70, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at his home.

Warren was born in Laconia, NH, February 24, 1955 to Stanley and Justine M. (DeYoung) Whitney. He grew up helping his family with their business, The Village Store. At the age of seven, he began volunteering with the Gilford Fire Department doing various odd jobs. This led to his lifelong passion as a volunteer firefighter.

Warren graduated from Laconia High School in 1973 and joined the army in 1974 where he served for two years. After his service, he moved back to Gilford and managed various Lakes Region restaurants. In 1984 he started his own painting and snow-plowing business where he was well respected for his quality workmanship. He thoroughly enjoyed working by himself and took tremendous pride in doing an excellent job. He believed if a job was worth doing, it was worth doing with all your heart.

Warren loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending the day hunting or fishing. An early riser, he was often spotted walking to the store to grab the Daily Sun, long before the sun rose. He was also an avid Harley Davidson Motorcycle owner and spent hours riding around New Hampshire.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Jonathan (Mackenzie) Whitney and their three children, Braydon, Paislee, and Lydia.

There will be a private graveside service in the spring in the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery, Gilford, NH.
