Obituary

John (Jack) Field, age 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away on March 23, 2025 at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Florida, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Winchester, Mass. on August 1, 1948, he was the son of the late Roger and Mary “Ciril” (Otto) Field.

He was raised in Tewksbury, Massachusetts and was a graduate of Tewksbury Memorial High School.

In 1968, he entered the US Army and served during the Vietnam War as a Sergeant. He was awarded several decorations for his active-duty service including the National Defense Service Medal, the M-14 Sharpshooter Badge, the Overseas Service Bar, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Prior to his retirement, he was a Tewksbury Firefighter for over twenty years.

Jack was an avid boater and enjoyed spending many years on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was known for his kindness and generosity and was always ready to work on anything for anyone who needed a hand.

He devoted his life to his family and is survived by his wife Barbara (Sullivan) Field of Cape Coral, Florida; his children John (Jack) Field, Jr and his wife Dawn (Valzania) of Sandy Hook, CT; Steven Field and fiancée Susan Jarvis of Cape Coral, Florida; Deborah D’Orazio and husband Vincent (Vinny) of Pleasantville, NY; and his fourteen grandchildren who all loved to be with their Grampy and Papa.
He is also survived by his brother Roger W. (Billy) Field and wife Donna (Wood) of Boynton Beach, FL, Thomas Field of Chelmsford, and Edward Field of Chelmsford. He leaves many in laws, nieces and nephews.

Jack was the brother of the late Michael W. Field.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 2nd from 5-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St, Tewksbury. All are invited to attend his Funeral Mass on Thursday, April 3rd at 10 a.m. at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main Street, Route 38, Tewksbury. Please meet at church. Interment of his ashes will follow at St. Mary Cemetery, 90 River Road, Tewksbury.
