Obituary

Clarissa Otero, 55, a lifelong resident of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday, March 24, 2025.

Born and educated in Lowell, Clarissa was the daughter of Jose Luis Otero of Florida and the late Margot (Figueroa) Otero. She was known for her firecracker personality, her heart of gold, and her unwavering care for those she loved. Clarissa was deeply devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she cherished and took immense pride in. Being their Nana was her greatest joy in life.

Clarissa is survived by her children, Miguel Rivera of Lowell and Jean Paul Durand of Lowell; her beloved grandchildren, Xavier Angel Durand, Jayvian Angel Cruz, Andre Xzayvior Cruz, Novaleiy Rivera, Remaleiy Rivera, J'Leisany Rivera, Yariana Rivera, and Ensley Cruz; and her daughter-in-law, Mara Carvalho of Lowell. She also leaves behind her siblings, Alicia Otero of Chester, NH, George Perez of Tewksbury, Marcello Perez of Lowell, and Renee Perez of Lowell, as well as many nieces and nephews, including Maritza Rivera of Chelmsford, Janitza Otero of Connecticut, Jennifer Landry of Dracut, Ethan Guadalupe, and Adrian Guadalupe.

Clarissa was predeceased by her son, Angel Luis “Tek” Cruz, who passed away in 2016, and her brothers, Clark Otero and Jose “Papo” Otero.

She was well known and loved by many friends throughout the community. Her warmth, energy, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
