Obituary

PLYMOUTH --- Sandra Anne Kydd, 65, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at home surrounded by her closest loved ones after a battle with a serious health condition.

Sandy was born January 17, 1960 to Nancy Plantinga and Russell Kydd in Kentucky. Her family lived in Fall River, Massachusetts, before moving to Ashland, New Hampshire, where they started a campground. Sandy lived all over the country, including thirty years in California, before returning to Plymouth, New Hampshire.

Sandy worked at Pease Public Library for sixteen years and most recently held the title of Assistant Director. Sandy loved her library family and was a staple of the Plymouth community. Sandy had the gentlest soul. She met each person in life with patience, openness, and love. Sandy guided people through difficult times with acceptance, kind words, and often a bit of laughter along the way. She helped care for many people during her lifetime, including her late mother, Nancy Plantinga, and dear friend Elsa Turmelle.

Anyone who knew Sandy knew that she loved to play; whether that be flying paper airplanes, starting a game of hide and seek in the bookshelves at Pease, or engaging in all types of general silliness. Sandy lifted the spirits of those around her with her contagious sense of fun and sharp wit. Sandy could often be heard saying that as long as she had her sense of humor, everything would be okay.

Sandy loved nature and animals. She spent many hours watching birds, bears, and local wildlife from her porch. She enjoyed visiting the Pemi River for small breaks in the day when the weather was nice. Sandy fell in love with local nature trails like Rainbow Falls, Smarts Brook, and Quincy Bog. Sandy also enjoyed visiting the ocean.

Sandy was predeceased by her mother Nancy Plantinga; father Russell Kydd; step-father Thurston Plantinga; sister Susan Blodgett; nephew Kenneth Blodgett; and aunt Jeanne Gatten. Sandy is survived by her brother, Russell Kydd, and her family: Carleigh Sullivan and Richard Goodwin.

Sandy was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Ashland, NH. A private service will be held for family and friends at the church. The date will be announced at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 26 Highland St., Ashland, NH 03217.
