Calvin Childs, II, age 75, of Norton, passed away in the presence of his loving family on Wednesday, March 26, 2025at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Childs, to whom he was wed for nearly fifty-two years.
Born in Boston, MA on April 22, 1949, he was a loving son of the late Frederic R. and Nancy (Delano) Childs.
Cal grew up in Concord, MA, was a 1967 graduate of Concord-Carlisle High School and attended Anne Arundel Community College. During the time of the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. Following four years of duty, he was honorably discharged on January 18, 1973 with the rank of Sergeant.
Prior to retiring, Cal was a Business Analyst, having worked for the Honeywell Corporation in Smithfield, RI and was previously employed at Hewlett Packard in Chelmsford, MA. He had made his home in Norton for over forty years.
Cal’s happiest times were those spent with his adoring family, especially the grandchildren. As a child he spent summers growing up in the town of Wolfeboro on Lake Winnipesauke and along with his family, loved spending time at their vacation home in Laconia, enjoying the beauty of the lake and creating family memories that will last forever. Cal’s family will always remember him as a kind and gentle man, who had the ability to fix just about anything.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted son Christopher N. Childs and his wife Julie of Bellingham. He was the cherished grandfather of Sophia Childs and William Childs, both of Bellingham. He was the dear brother of Robin Stafford and her husband Ben of Arcadia, CA, Sidney Harris and her husband Butch of Spartanburg, SC, Merrill Smith of Brookline and Rick Childs of Norton. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a graveside funeral service on Friday, April 11th at 11:00 A.M. at the Newland Cemetery, 70 Newland Street in Norton.
Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
