Obituary

Richard Teal, 87, of South Dennis, passed away on March 13, 2025, at Lifecare Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton.

Born in Pittsfield, Richard was the son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (Heno) Teal. He grew up in Pittsfield, graduating from Pittsfield High School before proudly serving in the Marine Reserves and the Pittsfield National Guard. He later attended technical school, earning a degree in electronics, which led to a long and fulfilling career.

Richard worked for Hamilton Standard in Windsor Locks, CT, for over 30 years. Among his proudest achievements was being recognized by NASA for his contributions to the Apollo 13 mission, specifically his work on the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) that helped bring the stranded astronauts safely home. After retiring in 1999, he settled on Cape Cod, a place filled with cherished family memories from vacations over the years.

In retirement, Richard found joy in hands-on projects, whether working on his house, his car, or anything in need of repair. Known as the local handyman, he was always ready to lend a hand to friends and neighbors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, Aidan and Hannah, making memories that they will forever cherish.

Richard was predeceased by his brother, Wayne Teal; his sister, Shirley McCann; and his brother-in-law, George McCann. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 58 years, Bonnie Holbrook Teal of South Dennis, MA; his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Brett Morehouse; and his grandchildren, Aidan Morehouse and Hannah Morehouse, all of Pepperell, MA.
Per Richard’s wishes, no formal services will be held. He will be laid to rest in Jacksonville, VT, at a later date.
