Pauline I. Long, 99, formerly of Halifax, passed away on March 22nd at St. Joseph Manor Health Care in Brockton.
Born in Hardwick, VT in 1926, she was the daughter of the late Riley Mosher and Bessie (Clark) Mosher. The family moved to Rockland, MA where Polly graduated from Rockland High, class of 1943. She was married in New Bern, NC in 1945. She lived with her family in Rockland and Hanson for many years, then retiring to Gilsum, NH, and returning several years ago to reside at Halifax Mobile Estate, to be near her family. Throughout her life, Polly was known for her incredible and prolific crafting. She produced many beautiful quilts, hand braided rugs, and hand knitted and crocheted items, many of which will always be treasured by family and friends.
She was the wife of the late Elmer “Bud” Long and sister to the late Eulalee Fluet, Dorothy Snowdale and Lorraine Keough. She was the mother of the late Robert Long and leaves behind her sons David and his wife Leslie of Whitman, Stephen and his wife Deborah of Cape Vincent, NY, and Daniel Long and Rebecca Clark of Storrs and Mansfield, CT, and her former daughter in law Paula O’Loughlin of Bourne, MA. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 27th from 10:00-11:00 AM with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. A burial will be held at later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice Services of Massachusetts.
