Paul Hickey, age 76, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Vernie M. (Studdard) Hickey, to whom he was wed for forty years.
Born in Taunton, MA on January 9, 1949, he was a loving son of the late James and Barbara (Devine) Hickey.
Paul grew up in town and was a 1968 graduate of Mansfield High School. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged from active duty with the rank of Lance Corporal. Paul continued his studies, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Johnson & wales University.
Prior to retiring, Paul was employed as a Plater at Swank, Inc. in Attleboro and had also worked at the Marathon Company in Attleboro as well. Paul’s life was always centered around his adoring family and throughout the years, as a family, enjoyed playing volleyball, bowling and especially attending Drum & Bugle Corps Competitions (27).
Paul was an accomplished chess player, another hobby he shared his love of with family, and was a former member of the Mansfield Chess Club. He was also a history savant of many subjects, one of his favorite being the Civil War.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his devoted children, Marcy Platt of Attleboro, Tracy Ackerman of Mansfield and Sean Hickey of Attleboro. He was the dear brother of Gerald Hickey of Boston, Michael Hickey and his wife Patricia of Farmington, Maine, Patrick Hickey of Hyannis and the late Joanne Pittman. He was the cherished uncle of Tamara, Justine and Heidi and the grandfather of Jason Platt, Kael Platt, A.J. Platt and Ryan Ackerman.
Services and burial will be private and visiting hours are omitted.
