Jean M. Moynihan, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, after a brief period of declining health. Born and raised in Brockton, MA, Jean was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. John J. Moynihan Sr. and Marjorie (Guerin) Moynihan.
A proud lifelong resident of Brockton, Jean lived a life filled with love, laughter, and meaningful connections. She was a member of the first graduating class of Cardinal Spellman High School, earning her diploma in 1962. Jean went on to dedicate her time and talents to several local institutions, including Cardinal Cushing Hospital, John Hancock Insurance, McMenamy’s Seafood, and the Brockton Public Schools.
Jean was an incredible woman—spirited, caring, and deeply devoted to those she loved. She was a cherished sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt and friend who brought warmth and joy to every gathering. Jean found happiness in life’s simple pleasures: traveling, shopping, quilting, golfing, and spending sunny days at the beach. But above all, she treasured time with her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her loving brother, John J. Moynihan Jr., and his wife Joanne of Bridgewater, and her devoted sister, Geraldine “Gigi” Morse of Cotuit. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Millicent “Millie” Moynihan of Easton, and her brother-in-law, David Morse of Cotuit.
She was a beloved aunt to nine nieces and nephews: John Moynihan Jr. and his wife Darlene of Bridgewater; David Moynihan and his wife Dawn of Warwick, RI; Dennis Moynihan and his wife Kris of Little River, SC; Katie DeCouta and her husband Mike of East Taunton; Kim Moynihan of Easton; Daniel Morse and his wife Amy of Easton; Tim Morse and his wife Kara of Easton; David Morse and his wife Gislaine of Hyannis; and Brian Morse and his wife Jen of Raynham.
Jean was also the proud great-aunt to seventeen great-nieces and nephews, and a great-great-aunt to one. Each of them held a special place in her heart. She adored them deeply and was a constant source of love, encouragement, and support in their lives.
Jean maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates from St. Patrick’s Catholic School and Cardinal Spellman High School, staying closely connected with them throughout the years. These enduring bonds were a testament to her loyalty, kindness, and the deep value she placed on friendship.
Jean’s presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to bring comfort and smiles to all who knew and loved her.
