Gloria Balser Obituary

Gloria Jean (Hunter) Balser of Manchester, NH (formerly of Derry, NH) died on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, after a period of failing health. Gloria was born in Cambria County, Colver, PA on March 25, 1942, the daughter of Floyd Alan Hunter and Helen Myrtle (Kerr) Hunter. After completing her high school education (graduating top 10 percent), Gloria began a career spanning 30 years serving office management environments performing roles of clerk typist, receptionist, secretary and purchasing agent. She was also a teachers’ aid for several Christian schools. Gloria was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her radiant smile warmed the hearts of all whom she encountered. Gloria had many talents, including sewing, knitting, and crocheting.

Gloria met the love of her life, Frederick Charles Balser, while working at the Pentagon in the early 1960’s. They were married on September 1, 1961. Eleven years later, in 1972, they both made the most important decision of their lives when they trusted in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Since that time, they forged their lives together with Jesus Christ at the center, being committed to living out their faith daily and sharing the love of Christ with all. For many years they were both involved with children’s and youth ministries at their previous Christian fellowship, Church of the King, Bedford, NH. Gloria also played piano at the worship services.

Since transitioning to Calvary Bible Church, Derry, NH in the early 2000’s, Gloria was involved with the church’s Stitching with a Purpose ministry, the CBC weekly lady’s life group (Bible Study), Ladies-Day-Apart, and the yearly mission’s conference. Gloria ran her race well and is now home in Heaven with husband Fred, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed. May all who had the privilege of knowing Gloria pass on her spirit of love for people and desire for them to hear about the Lord Jesus Christ.

Gloria is survived by her son James Balser of Derry, NH; daughter Theresa Marie Balser of Merrimack, NH; granddaughter Cheyenne Balser; niece Bobbie and Ben DeSantis, Springfield, VA; niece Debbie and Darrell Huston, Fredericksburg, VA; and nephew Bill Barber, Fredericksburg, VA.

Gloria is predeceased by her devoted husband of 62 years Frederick, and sister Donna Mae Barber.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Bible Church on April 5, 2025 from 10am-11am. Visiting hours from 11am-12pm. Private burial at Forest Hill Cemetery for family and invited guests at 12:30pm. There will be no mercy meal.
